My Own Pine Box was a band that came out the Kalamazoo, Michigan emo scene. They played a jangly jazzy version of emo that they could honestly call their own sound. Coupled with voice harmonies, when I think Kalamazoo emo band I think of this band and their corny lyrics.

Emo flourished in the 90s in a very under the radar sort of way. Many bands such as agna Moraine's Autobiography, Constatine Sankathi, Ordination Of Aaron and Bev Clone. They were all known for their different styles that always kept the same DIY aspect of the music alive. The recordings were low budget, the guitars sometimes sounded like they were falling apart and the lyrics were beautiful and overdramatic. Most people may read that and scratch their heads but honestly it's truly something beautiful to listen to.
